Minnesota // 23-27 August
Lake Elmo is a huge reserve only thirty minutes from central Minneapolis-St Paul. Along with the campsite it has picnic areas, a swim pond (lake version of a Southbank-type pool), playgrounds, a fishing pier and a network of hiking/cross-country skiing trails (depending on the season). It was scorching when we arrived so the swim pond was very busy! We were back to needing the air-con, especially as the kiddos had school for the first night, and it was not cooling off. Luckily it cooled off slightly over the next few days as we explored Mineapolis-St Paul and went to the Minnesota State Fair. Lake Elmo was super handy and it was very easy getting around Mineapolis-St Paul.
