Sugarloaf Key, Florida // 20-24 June
We were excited to head off on our drive down to the Keys. This was the first destination we had planned for our trip. Close enough to our starting point in case of any unexpected issues and somewhere we were all excited to experience. The drive down on the Overseas Highway was stunning!
We noticed the seas breezes as soon as we arrived at our campground, KOA Sugarloaf Key. It was still hot, predicted to be 32deg all week, but less humid and lovely breezes. Set up was quick and we were off to check out the pool and little beach at the campground. This was our first KOA (a huge chain of campgrounds) and I think we may have been spoilt because it was super fancy. All the sites had white crushed limestone and lush gardens defining them, the pool was stunning with loungers, hammocks and a poolside bar, and the little beach had inflatables that the kids loved.
Kids on the crazy inflatables… it’s a lot harder than it looks to climb up on these things!
