Crescent City, Florida // 8-9 June
We received news from Ashlee that the Title transfer would be ready on Thursday, earlier than we had hoped! We decided to leave our hotel (Home2Suites) a day early and head to Crescent City to finalise the paperwork and pick up the RV. We found a campsite nearby so we’d have just a short trip for our first time towing the RV. Since finalising the RV and truck we had been to Walmart, Target, Lowes (hardware), and Camping World for all the things we needed to set up home in the RV. The Home2Suites had been home for almost 10 days and had been a great little setup. We had a really well laid out little room with a kitchenette, there was breakfast each morning (featuring a well-utilised waffle station), pool, and a short walk to the Bass Pro Shop for an evening stroll.
The RV was on Ashlee’s family’s property on the outskirts of Crescent City. As it was a small town it would be easy to do the paperwork at the Department of Motor Vehicles there. Unfortunately we got news from Ashlee that there was a delay and we wouldn’t be able to finalise the transfer that day. We were waiting from the DMV to receive the Title, which was electronic but seemed to take some time. We crossed our fingers for Friday. Ashlee’s family were super accomodating and let us move our things into the RV and stay the night on their property. They were super helpful with tips and we were hooked up to electricity and water. Moving out things in quickly made it feel very homey.
Friday morning we headed out to spend the morning at nearby Daytona beach. The plan was to meet at the DMV around 3pm to finalise everything. Unfortunately had bad news again, we were still waiting. The Title hadn’t been updated by 3pm so we wouldn’t have time to finalise things. It did mean we had more time at Daytona beach which was fun. Ironically the Title update was showing online later that evening but it was after 5pm and the DMV did not open on Saturdays. I called the campsite to let them know about our further delays. We had some thinking to do about our plans. There was not much near Crescent City and although Ashlee’s family were very kind we didn’t want to overstay our welcome. We couldn’t move the RV as it wasn’t registered and we’d have to come back to Crescent City anyway to finalise the purchase. We decided to book accommodation in Orlando and stick to our plans of Universal Studios. It had been a lot of shopping and organising with the kids trailing along with us so we were excited to have some touristy fun!
