Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin // 20 August
First we worked out what a ‘dell’ was, seeing we were in the Wisconsin Dells. In this area it’s a small cliff above the river. This is characteristic of the landscape along the Wisconsin River. This is a historic logging area, and the lumber would be transported via the rivers. The towns were established where the river was dammed and sawmills established.
We headed out for Sunday breakfast (with everyone else it seemed) to Paul Bunyan’s, and all-you-can-eat lumberjack feast. They certainly know how to feed a crowd, the place was huge. The breakfast started with coffee (or juice) and donuts, then scrambled eggs, breakfast (fried) potatoes, pancakes, ham, sausages, and biscuits and gravy.

After breakfast we walked along the riverwalk, there were tourist boats, private boats and kayaks out enjoying Sunday on the river.
