Hot Springs, South Dakota // 1 September
We headed to Wind Cave National Park in the afternoon as Claire and I had been out most of the morning on a fantastic trail ride. Unfortunately the cave tours weren’t available so we explored the natural entrance to the cave (and experienced the wind rushing out) and did a nature walk. We then went looking for the bison. There’s a huge herd in the National Park which is separate from Custer State Park and their bison herd. The bison were right near the road and we saw little calves and the prairie dogs chirping their alert as the bison herd approached.
Horseriding… For Claire’s special birthday ride we explored a gorgeous property which bordered the Black Hills National Forest. The property was stunning and the horses amazing. We spotted a coyote and several deer!
