Wyoming // 22 September
The temperature had dropped overnight and there was fresh snow on the surrounding mountaintops. The cool weather made the steamy springs even easier to spot. This was our last day in Yellowstone and we were visiting Grand Prismatic Spring and Old Faithful geyser on our way south to Grand Tetons.
Grand Prismatic was super steamy as there was a stiff breeze. We didn’t get to do the walk to the overlook as a brief (and very chilly) shower was closing in. We did the boardwalk loop and grabbed our photos then got back to the car just before getting too wet.
We arrived at Old Faithful in time to join the growing crowd awaiting the next eruption. It was exciting to have everyone gathering, the viewing area was impressive and very organised. There were collective ooohs and ahhhhs when it erupted. We could also see Grand Geyser in the distance and were hoping to also see its eruption but as it is less predictable it went off in the distance as we waited for Old Faithful. We checked out the visitor Center and the Old Faithful Inn then waited to see Old Faithful one more time.
The Old Faithful Inn was gorgeous, a huge wooden building with a massive fireplace, ornate clock, and interior balconies.
