Arches National Park

Moab, Utah // 13 October

Arches was one of the few parks we needed a timed reservation to visit. The reservation system worked well, keeping the line at the entrance manageable and spreading out the traffic in the park. We had no trouble finding a park at the various trailheads. It was a huge day as there was so much to see.

Courthouse Towers…. First amazing structures as we entered the park.

Petrified Dunes…. View across the petrified dunes to the mountains.

Balanced Rock… This was a fun little trail where you can see Balanced Rock from all angles.

Double Arch… This was really fun as you could climb up under the arches. Bit scary!

The Windows… The scale is hard to capture, the North Window is super wide.

Turret Arch…This was a short walk from the Windows.

Landscape Arch… We did a short part of the Devil’s Garden Trail to the Landscape Arch. It was really interesting walking through the towering rock formations.

Delicate Arch… This was an amazing 5km (round trip) hike, a steady climb mostly over slickrock on the way out, with the stunning view of Delicate Arch revealing itself round the last bend. Even the kids agreed this hike was well worth it, though the last part on the narrow rock ledge and the free reign climbing for the best photos was pretty hairy!

We picnicked enjoyed the views before heading back.
