California // 27 November
We spent one very picturesque and cool day at Yosemite National Park. As winter was closing in there were very few people in the park. Yosemite is huge though the roads to explore further afield had closed for the winter so we spent our day in the beautiful Yosemite Valley.
Arriving in Yosemite Valley… It was a gorgeous drive the whole way up!
Yosemite Valley… The National Park was very quiet so late in the season so we were able to drive ourselves and find parking near the short walks and sights we wanted to see. In summer there are shuttles as the park is so popular and it’s a narrow canyon.
The kids were excited to see the frost and frozen ponds…
We stopped at the Visitor Center, checked out the Village Store and Museum, then went for a walk to Yosemite Falls.
Hike to Yosemite Falls… There was a paved footpath through the trees and with views of the falls. Getting closer lots of people were taking on the rock scramble to get closer to the lower falls.
Views of Half Dome…
Valley views…
El Capitan…. It was a really pretty walk to find the best views of El Capitan. We spotted some climbers (they were very tiny and hard to spot). It was late so we caught the last sunshine on the rock face.
Bridalveil Falls… Our last short hike before we started to lose the daylight. It was also starting to get very chilly.
