Biscayne National Park

Miami, Florida // 18 June

Biscayne, a marine sanctuary, was our second National Park. We checked out the visitor centre and walked along the coast nearby. We had stocked up on goggles and snorkels at Walmart in case we could snorkel from the beach, but you needed to go out on a boat. We decided to save our snorkeling for the Florida Keys. We saw fish and crabs in the clear, still bay. The coast was very coral-y and rocky. This part of Florida has a very shallow top layer of sandy dirt and then metres of limestone underneath so there is lots of crumbled limestone pathways and limestone rocks lining pathways.
