Nashville

Tennessee // 3-6 July

Claire and I headed into Nashville first on the downtown shuttle to join the Old Time Trolley tour. We were going to take the Trolley around the city sights and the go to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was super busy this week with the 4th July, lots of people on holiday, so we needed to book a slot to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. The downtown shuttle dropped us outside the Hall of Fame and minutes later the Trolley arrived so we jumped right on. It took us through the busy city streets, past the stadiums and music halls, and along the main street full of honky tonk bars. It was crazy loud even at lunchtime. We went past the Capitol and the Parthenon and stopped off to visit Belmont Mansion, once the largest private estate in Tennessee, now part of Belmont University. Then on the way back to the Hall of Fame we went along Music Avenue with all the recording studios in non-descript residential homes.

Country Music Hall of Fame…

Robin and Christopher headed in a little later to do their own tour on the purple buses (local service $4 to ride all day!). They took in the Capitol, touring inside, the Parthenon and then headed to the centre of town. We met up with them after our visit to the Hall of Fame. We wandered back through downtown together and caught the bus back together. The bus dropped us at the Opryland, the massive shopping centre next to the Old Opry. Robin had parked the car there.
