Our first travel stop! We picked Wekiva Falls as it was not too far from Crescent City (where we were picking up the RV) and less than an hour from Orlando as originally we thought we\u2019d be going to Universal from here. The Wekiva Falls staff were super accomodating when we had to change our plans. I think I spoke to them at least three times! It was a great spot with space to relax while we familiarised ourselves with our new home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After sorting all the RV paperwork in Crescent City it was about an hour and a half drive to Wekiva Falls. We triple-checked we were properly hitched and hit the highway. You can definitely feel the RV behind the truck but the truck is gutsy enough to manage. It drives quite well together and we sit on around 60miles per hour. Once I calculated that was just under 100km\/hr I told Robin we could slow down a bit! The speed limit on the motorway is 70mph so we sit in the right lane and potter along as everyone cruises past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wekiva Falls were kind enough to put us in a very easy back-in site as it was our first trip. We were quickly set up and changed into swimmers to explore. We are not used to the Florida humidity so are very grateful for the air-con in the RV and swimming lots. We jumped into the spring (yes you can smell the sulphur!) which we very cool and refreshing. As we were heading from the main spring pool to the stream we spotted a little alligator – eeek! He didn\u2019t seem bothered and neither did anyone else. He was less than a metre long but we still respectfully gave him some distance. Exploring down the stream there were pretty birds, lots of fish and a little water snake. At the end of the stream is the little red bridge where we met some other campers who were kind enough to point out the alligator snapping turtle hiding under the bank. He would have been about 20cm wide and 30cm long. I would not mess with him! He snuck out further and we got a good look at him, incredible. We weren\u2019t lucky enough to see the other bigger gator they told us about (whew!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
