Washington DC \/\/ 17 July<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were staying at a huge RV park on the outskirts of Washington DC, Cherry Hill Park. It was a short drive to the Metro which took us into central Washington DC in about 45mins. The kids enjoyed the efficiency (and air-con) of there first metro\/subway experience. It was sunny and humid and we had a big walking day for our first day in Washington.We popped out of the Metro at Smithsonian and walked to the Washington Monument, past the White House, stopped in at the White House Visitor Center, grabbed some lunch (and air-con) at a lovely cafe, then continued our walking adventure along the reflecting pools to the Lincoln Memorial, round past the Roosevelt Memorial and Jefferson Memorial, then finally back to the Metro. It was a lot of steps! We arrived back at the campsite just in time for the kids to log onto school. It was an ambitious plan and I\u2019m amazed we managed it all!
